paralympic passion...

Enjoyed an afternoon at Olympic Park on Sunday taking in the inspirational spectacle that is the Paralympics. We were scheduled to see the evening session of track and field in the main stadium but managed to luck into some of the wheelchair basketball too... Cheers Mellis!
I've not really seen a lot of stadium sport so the vibe once inside the venue, for me, was something else... A virtual sea of positivity stretched all around as spectators of all different colour and creed cheered their countrymen on to amazing achievements... We got to see Sourpuss-torious get silver in the t44 200m final, long jump, javelin, discus and some especially inspiring visually impaired sprinting, but the highlight was definitely the t54 5000m final eventually won by David Weir.
It was a tactical race for the most part, and not especially fast in terms of records, but I will never in my life forget the atmosphere and sheer noise as the bell rang for the final lap... I've got goosebumps just thinking about it now! Amazing...
Local support abounded...
Organisation was impeccable...
Tip off at the basketball, GB vs Poland...
GB for two... Nothing but net...
Fanning out...
The T44 200m final on their marks...
And the crowd goes wild!
